RULES ~~~ NBHA OK 9 ~~~ 2025
District Rules are to hopefully clarify what is expected of each member.
Last year was another good year for your District -> OK09...
Let’s work together to make 2025 even better.
National Rule Section B-13: A contestant’s current NBHA membership card or a copy of current
membership applications must be presented to the show secretary prior to entering an NBHA sanctioned show.
1.
Jackpots will be run as 5-D Races (½ split). The cost per run will be $25 (with $5 Grounds fee). Entry Cards will need to be filled out and signed at each race (these help us to verify if you were at a race and which classes you entered). You must ride as drawn.
- Should we take a check from you; consider it a privilege...
- There will be a $50 fee on any returned checks
- It is your responsibility to pick up your winnings ($3 will be deducted for mailing payout)
- Winnings will be mailed at the end of the year (if we have an address with the $3 deduction mentioned above).
- Exhibitions: Sixty (60) second time limitation on exhibitions ($5 fine for over the 60 seconds).
2.
Each member will pay a $20 EF to run youth and senior classes for a time. Rider may choose to roll roll over time to Open class $25 EF.
Youth classes will be run as 5-D Races (½ split).
Senior Classes will be run 5-D (½split).

For your information ~ the $5 breakdown:
State
$1 - District
$4 – Awards/Office supplies
Races co-sanctioned with other events will require a $5 rollover fee.
3. Members must compete in 6 barrel races in order to receive district year-end awards.(*with yearly ad/nomination fees paid.) We currently have 12 scheduled races this year. We can always use helpers with barrel setting, announcing, time keeping and entries at the races.
4.
Tie breaker for awards will be determined by the best attendance at races competed in during the year (1 point for each race attended).
5.DISTRICT AWARDS If a member wants to receive Year-End Awards at the district level the Ad/Nomination Fee must be paid in each class they will be competing in for district prizes. The First Class Fee is $50; $35 for the second class. (If you compete in both Open & Youth or Senior classes and want prizes in both classes the fee is $85). This fee must be paid by 5/18, 2025. We set this date in order to give us an idea as to how much money we have for our Year-End Awards. (Remember this rule applies at the District Level ONLY… You receive National Points whether this District Fee is paid or not).
- You may run as many horses per class as you want ~ (National Rule Section C -8: A competitor with multiple entries will receive points only for the highest placing horse per division).
- New members are allowed until the next race after joining to pay the Ad/Nomination Fee if they choose to compete for year-end awards.
- If you are having a family or financial problem, you can talk to us about these fees.
6. District Awards will be awarded per class per division.

a.
Open – 5 Divisions - Up to Five (5) places

b.
Senior – 4 Divisions - Up to Three (3) places

c.
Youth – 4 Divisions - Up to Three (3) places
7.
Race Disputes… points, time or something concerning the race. Please do so in writing before the beginning of the next race. This will give us plenty of time to get the problem corrected, without making it difficult to correct. (National Rule Section H-1: Persons who believe a rule violation or infraction has occurred at an NBHA event, may file a written protest with NBHA Headquarters, 2112 Montgomery St. Ft. Worth, TX 76017. The written protest must be accompanied by a $50 protest fee. The protest must be made within 30 days of the incident which is being protested. If the protest proves to be valid, the $50 protest fee will be returned to the district where the protest was filed to be used for district year end awards. In certain cases, determined by the Executive Director, NBHA Headquarters may reserve the right to return the $50 protest fee even if the protest proves to be invalid. This is the ONLY manner in which a protest or complaint will be accepted.
8.
If there is a problem, concern or suggestion, please make these in writing. That will give us an opportunity to review the problem, check the official NBHA rules and get with our state director to help us make a fair (according to NBHA Rules) decision on the issue.
You may call/text Lana at 580-425-1069... If you want her to return your call, you will need to leave a message.
